I went to a ladies luncheon today and it was delightful. It was great to catch up with old friends. One asked how I was enjoying my retirement. I had to think about that one.
My last day at the church was August 13. That was two months ago! I can’t believe it. It has been a blur. First, of all, I don’t feel retired. I have never been so busy. I’ve worked all my life and generally enjoyed what I was doing, especially the past seven years working at the church and serving the Lord. What a blessing.
However, being retired does have its benefits. I don’t have to set an alarm! I usually get to spend as much time in my quiet time as I please, and then work on what I want.
I’ve never read anywhere in the Bible where God tells us that when we become 65 our work for Him is done. I can’t imagine a day without serving the Lord. That is my greatest joy.
I am beginning to do inspirational speaking and marketing my book, Good Morning, God! I will be speaking at the Village of Tanglewood on Monday, September 19 at 2:00 with a book signing afterwards. You are all invited. I also have a book signing at Barnes & Nobel on October 29. Mark your calendars. I’ll need your support. I’ll send more info later.
God has blessed Dennis and me to the point our cup overflows. How can I not give Him praise and thanks by serving Him each day? I realize everyone is not retired. However, I do know that no matter what you are doing each day you should do it to the glory of the Lord. We can just do it a little more slowly now!
