I heard someone say that everything happens for a reason and sometimes that reason is because you made a stupid decision. I laughed out loud but the more I thought about it, that is really a profound statement.
We all have things in our life that we regret. We think, “if only I had done this or not done that.” Some of the regrets we have are very serious and the repercussions of our decisions are with us throughout our life.
We all have regrets but what we need to realize is that they are from the past. I know you are wondering how this blog is going to tie into Christmas, so here goes: God sent His One and Only Son to the earth to be born as an infant in a stable to live the most humble life. He didn’t send Him as king or even a High Priest. He was a carpenter. He did physical labor until He was thirty years old.
When He began His ministry it was to set us free from the burden of regrets and the slavery of sin. God knew that we would need a Savior. He knew that we would mess up and wish we had or had not done things.
Romans 8:1 tells us that “There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” Because of His love for us and because He paid the price, we can lay our burdens at the foot of the cross. We can live a life of joy and peace because God sent His Son.
You need to remind yourself of this thought every day. “There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” Praise God. We are saved and washed by the blood of Jesus Christ. No wonder the angels sang: “Hark the Herald Angels sing Glory to the New Born King!”
