Trust is a very small word but it is HUGE. Think of all the circumstances in which “trust” is the deciding factor. When we are a toddler, we have to trust that our parents will be there for us when we take those first baby steps.
We have to trust that the pilot is trained and knows how to fly the plane to get us safely to our destination. When we get married we trust that our spouse truly means the vows they make before God. If you think about it, almost everything we encounter hinges on trust.
Then only way you can truly trust someone is to know them. You have to have had so much interaction with them that you know them so well that there is no doubt you can trust them. This, of course, is how we know God. We must spend time in His Word and prayer and we will develop a close, personal relationship with Him.
One of the saddest things is the loss of trust. When you know you can’t trust someone it breaks your heart.
Think how God feels when we don’t trust Him. It breaks His heart. He has filled the scriptures with His promises. He promises to never leave us or forsake us. He promises that if we believe in His Son we will have eternal life. He promises that He will wipe away every tear.
I heard a story of a man who came to Mother Teresa and asked her to pray for him to have clarity. She told him she would not pray for him to have clarity, but trust. What more do we need than the promises of God? Trust the Lord to take your burdens today and feel Him lift the weight off your shoulders onto His.
